(really) hot in the city

the past weekend has been sweltering in the city. summer pounced on us without warning this time, one weekend we were delighting in the perfectness of the weather for tennis, the next we were (ok, at least I was) huffing and puffing just to cool ourselves down. i had forgotten how insane it was to play tennis in 90+ heat smack in the middle of the afternoon (think the last time i did it was with kanelmo last summer). the rest of the week is going to be more of the same; summer is squarely here alright.

i was also at the astoria taos' home last night, and the heat brought back memories of our first heatwave in astoria WITHOUT an a/c and our pathetic attempts at cooling ourselves off with wet towel on bodies and fans full blast on towel and beer to tip us to sleep. miserable then but funny on hindsight. am glad we have progressed to freon since.
